Globe vase by Jack Troy

This globe-like, oorcelain vessel has a rounded, hollow lip at the small opening of the neck. The golden surface is created by the use of a flashing slip. The extensive dark brown and balck dripping on the neck and shoulders is created by melted wood ash. There is a large pale spot on the underside of the belly where a neighboring pot prevented flames from reaching the surface.
